About Us
CPWD OFFICERS’ WIVES ASSOCIATION is a socio-cultural organization run by the wives of the officers of Central Public Works Department. This association reaches out not only to the employees and their families but also to the workers/staff temporarily engaged by the department. This is a cohesive and dynamic organization where the ladies work diligently, under the leadership of the incumbent President, to aid the under privileged and disadvantaged sections of society. It provides aid in times of any national calamity and also helps other welfare organizations.
The association is headed by the wife of the incumbent Director General (Works) CPWD and is based in New Delhi.
The foundation of CPWD officers’ wives association was laid in the year 1971 by Late Mrs Rachel Muthachen, wife of the then serving Engineer in Chief. She started the association from her residence, where the ladies got together, stitched clothes and sold them to raise funds for charitable work. The funds that were generated provided aid like donating a sewing machine to a driver’s widow, or providing a monthly sum to someone in need. Gradually, those baby steps progressed into leaps and bounds and now the association operates from its own office at Hriday Kunj, R.K. Puram, New Delhi and is a registered Welfare Society.
