Regional Unit Activities

A Health check-up camp for construction workers was organized at construction site of Boys Hostel at MNNIT PRAYAGRAJ. The workers were examined by a team of doctors from MNNIT Hospital. 150 patients were examined and given medicine, refreshment and advice about general health care.

Members of OWA Chandigarh have added another feather in the cap by implementing the MOU signed between CPWD and CPWD-OWA. They organized a health check-up camp for construction workers at IIT Ropar site. The workers were examined by doctors from PGI.

Members of OWA Bhubneswar visited Nilakantheswar village near Konark and distributed food packets comprising of Dal, sugar, milk powder, biscuits, sattu and chidwa in a relief Camp to the "Fanni" affected people. Around 135 families got benefitted.

OWA President, Mrs. Deepa Singh inaugurated a new Bal Basera at AIIMS construction site, RISHIKESH. The President was accompanied by other office bearers of OWA Delhi. There are 45 children in this creche. Each one of them was gifted a set of books, pencils & colours by the President. A tree plantation drive was also organized at the CPWD Residential Campus, Dehradun.

The Tricolour was hoisted by members of OWA Dehradun on Independence Day.

TEEJ FESTIVAL was celebrated with great zeal by members of OWA GANDHINAGAR and OWA CHANDIGARH. The ladies dressed to their best and enjoyed the celebration thoroughly by participating in games & competitions.

The members of OWA Allahabad did their bit to save Mother EARTH by organizing a TREE PLANTATION DRIVE at the GPOA & GPRA campuses in Pryagraj.

A Tree Plantation drive was organised by members of OWA Chandigarh by planting trees at PGI Campus, Chandigarh. A small effort by OWA to save our beautiful Planet.

A creche was started at a site in Jamnagar. A lady is deputed to take care of the children, when mothers are working.

To mark the Labour Day on 1st May, OWA Gandhinagar conducted games for women and men labourers at IIT construction site, Gandhinagar. This was co ordinated by Sonali Mittal and Sunita Sharma, fully supported by CPWD IIT GANDHINAGAR. They organized 3 fun-filled games to raise their spirits. It ended with snacks distribution to 50 labourers.

The members of OWA held an informative session for women labourers at IIT CPWD construction site in Gandhinagar, on 'Health and Hygiene' and 'Food and Nutrition'. They also distributed sanitary napkins and a Dettol soap to all women workers present.

A Health Camp was organized by OWA Bhubaneswar with the help of CGHS doctors. Medical check up of fifty labourers and their children was done today.

Chandigarh OWA organized a dental & hygiene camp on one of the construction sites. Doctors gave demonstrations which were well received by the attendees. Some items related to hygiene were distributed. They were also given refreshments.

To mark the 70th Republic Day, the CPWD-OWA Bhubneswar also took an initiative and started with their activities. They visited a construction site there and distributed food packets to the women labourers and pencils & notebooks to their children. They also distributed flags to them to inculcate the feeling of patriotism.

To mark the occasion of Republic Day CPWD-OWA Kolkata Unit visited the LIGHT HOUSE FOR THE BLIND & distributed essential utility things along with food packets.

To mark the occasion of Republic Day CPWD- OWA, Chandigarh, hoisted the National Flag at the Sector-38 site. The Bal Basera children there sang patriotic songs. Sweets were also distributed to the children.

On occasion of Christmas, members of OWA Gandhinagar distributed food items to Children of construction workers at 'Salt Satyagraha Memorial Site' at Dandi, Gujarat.

Members of CPWD OWA(Chandigarh Unit) celebrated Christmas at the Bal basera, Sector -38 construction site. The children did some Art work. Goodie bags and slates were distributed to them. Senior officers also visited the Creche to encourage the children. The efforts put in by the OWA Chandigarh are well appreciated.

The CPWD OWA - Gandhinagar Unit visited old age home and spent quality time with them.

The CPWD Wives team distributed toys, biscuits and stationary items to the children of labourers at IIT Gandhinagar creches. We also gave other items from our homes to the families of labourers. The creches there are well maintained. The labourer camps are well maintained, giving them decent quality of living.

To mark the Festival of Diwali, the members of OWA distributed sweets among the children of labourers at the construction Sites. The team is making commendable efforts to start the Bal Basera creches at different sites in Chandigarh.

The CPWD-OWA (Gujarat Unit) Organized Garba Utsav in Gandhinagar. It was a fun-filled, energetic evening of Music & Dance. All women were dressed up in bright, colourful, traditional Indian costumes and looked great.

CPWD-OWA unit at Ahmedabad took the initiative to Plant Trees & Save the Environment. They planted 33 fruit trees and 2 Naaglingam trees. We Congratulate them for participating in this noble cause.

The CPWD- OWA Patna wing has extended hand of help for flood relief in Samasthipur Bihar. The team took pain to travel through boats to reach to the needy people and distributed the food material, blankets, clothes and other item of need.
